Reflective learning In the fourth lecture for Management and Information systems, we learned about how databases and different information systems are used within a business. The main topic that we discussed in the lecture was to understand the use and importance of business intelligence and why different organisations would need this. We discussed about the internal and external impacts of it as well as any effects it would have in the future of the business. We also discussed different types of databases and what they are specifically used for within the business. Seminar We received a case study at the beginning of the seminar about YouTube videos and after reading it we had to answer questions about what types of videos we watched on the platform as well as how it be beneficial to a business and if there any negative effects it could have on a business. In the seminar we continued to fill out spreadsheets on Microsoft Excel focusing on the relevant formulas to use to prevent the...

Reflective learning In this lecture on 12th February, our lecturer gave us examples of what types of questions we should be asking our chosen business so that we are collecting the correct information to work from. These questions would give us answers that would help us to outline how exactly the business operates and what specific solutions there are to improve the business. The lecture also consisted of information about infrastructure and services of a business so that we could incorporate these solutions into our own analysis. Teamwork I was not able to attend the seminar for this week, so I had asked my fellow group members to update me and give me information about the information they had collected and any other work that they had done. I was sent an audio recording of the interview conducted with the business owner, so I have written my own ideas about possible solutions for the business that I can share with my group member...

Reflective learning My second lecture for Management and Information Systems was on 5th February 2018, and Haider gave us a lecture on reflective writing in our weekly blogs. We found out about what to include in our reflective learning pieces such as how it should be structured and what questions should be asked. There was also tips on how to prepare for the writing tasks such as practicing typing non stop about the topic for up to 15 minutes. This would allow us to see how much content we are capable of writing within a short amount of time. It would be helpful if we plan out what we should write about in the reflection piece so it would be easier to complete the work in a shorter amount of time. Teamwork In our seminars we had narrowed down the options of the businesses that we had wanted to research for our assessments, with the options including a corner shop, Tesco's, Gregg's or Shoe Zone. As a group we had first decided to look at a corner shop next to Elephant and C...

Reflective learning I attended my first lecture for Management and Information Systems on Monday 29th January, where our lecturer, Haider Bilal, went over what assignments we we have to complete throughout this module. After learning that the module was 100% coursework, he then explained that there were two main assessments which are a presentation and reflection report and that the first assessment was split into two individual assessments. These were a group presentation and a weekly blog that we have to write entries for reflecting on what we have learned during the lecture and seminar session as well as what our team has managed to do in the seminar session. Other than explaining how our assessments are carried out and how we are marked on them, Haider also explained that technology has developed increasingly in recent years and that compared to years ago there is a higher demand for people who have advanced skills in IT. So this module would help to develop our skills and get us...
