Reflective learning
In our lecture on Monday, we carried on with the presentation from the previous week which was about IT security within a business; we finished off by looking at firewalls and encryption and how hackers could change the IT system of the business as well as a short video of how easy it is for your mobile phone to be hacked. We then moved on to the next topic of cloud computing and we watched a video that showed us a brief outline of what it is and how it is beneficial to us. We discussed about how it would be used in the sense of the business and why it is suitable, such as that files can be accessed at any time from any computer.
Group work
We met up as a group on Monday after our lectures to see the progress of our group work. Previously, we had listened to the recording of the interview with the business owner and we had each written what problems we found and possible solutions for it. We discussed our notes to each other then typed up the problems of the business onto a Word document and wrote down some solutions that could resolve the issues in the business. This is only a very brief outline of what would be in our presentations so we set ourselves a deadline for the following week that we would each expand on the problems of the business so that we would have all the information ready to put into our presentation.
Seminar
In the seminar the next function that we learned to use on Excel was the 'VLOOKUP' function which searches through a column of data to find a piece of data in a corresponding row such as finding a specific shoe type under a list of shoes. We tried many functions to find data such as names and prices and we have more spreadsheets to practice our skills from.
